It takes money to do the things necessary for putting on the games.
The youth games are different than the adult Olympics, but the preparation is going to be about the same.
The facilities, that is the arenas and stadiums along with the housing takes the longest time and the most money to complete.
I am not familiar with what exists now in Singapore but they have enough time to construct everything if they start now.
we need a vibrant sporting culture, improve our security and ,many more. I am confident of singapore chances
jus to tell you canada is hosting it!!! in 2010
On the 3rd of september 2007 Singapore and 10 other countries were nominated to become the 1st country to host the youth olympics, it will be decided in february 2008 who will host.
The run up to the announcement are as follows:
1. 26th oct all nominated countries to reply to a questionare from the IOC (this is standard procedure).
2. 12th Nov a short list of nominated countries.
3. Dec 2007 visits to the short listed countries.
4. Feb 2008 announcement of Youth Olympic hosts.
Their are 3 parts to the bidding procedure:
Part 1 is largely to do with the IOCs requirements, laws and regulations etc.
Part 2 is filling out the Questionaire that nominated cities need to complete before advancing, this is broken down into 15 parts - it ranges from viable venues, marketing, finance, the olympic villages, accomodation to name a few, right through to economics, education, transport and media involvement.
Part 3 is presentation from nominated cities.
finally from their a city is choosen.
Even if singapore doesnot have all the requirements they may still be viable if it is shown in their presentation that what ever needs doing will be done by a given date. http://www.olympic.org/uk/news/olympic_n…http://multimedia.olympic.org/pdf/en_rep…
