What Countries Hosting The Olympics Have Won The Medal Standings?

In 2008 it is clear the China will win. What other countries that host the olympics have won? Maybe USA in LA84, USSR in Moscow1980…??

    It’s not clear. the US is leading right now. China doesn’t have anything left to compete in. They have athletes but nothing threatening. in 1996 in Atlanta the United States won the medal talley. The reason the USSR won in 1980 is becasue the US boycotted it and did not compete. I dont think russia came here in 84 for the same reason as well.
    Why did I get a thumbs down.. Look it up bastards….
    I’m wrong? Gold medals are the only ones that are counted? That’s B.S. and you know it. You better lear how to read before you go talking crap like that. 99 to 83 is the count as of right now and last time I checked 99 is higher. Would you like me to explain this in a different language for you since you speak for the rest of the world?

    France 1900, Great Britain 1908, and Germany 1936. Every other Olympics were either Russia or America.
    Edit: Bobby, you got thumbs down because you are wrong. The U.S is not winning, maybe in America they are considered winning but in the World China is recognized as the leader in the 2008 medal count.

    France in 1900
    USA in 1904, 1932, 1984, and 1996 (although the USSR boycott affected in 1984)
    Great Britain in 1908
    Germany in 1936
    USSR in 1980 (although the USA boycott affected)
    China in 2008
    In other years, most times it had been either the USA or the USSR.

    host nation usually does better than normal since they automatically qualify for everything as well as the home ground factor. Australia did exceptionally well too at Sydney.
    Considering how good UK is going this year, it’ll be a really interesting battle in 2012 Olympics.
