Aside From Word Of Mouth, Ratemyprofessors.com And Myspace, Is There Any Other Way To Find A Good Professor?

In order to recieve my comissioning, I have to take calculus I and II. I failed Calc I over the summer, and it seems that I’m running into road blocks as to whoch professor i can take at my college, and I am able to take the classes at other universities. The only issue is I’m taking 17-20 credit hours a semester for fall and spring, the best ones are either full or unavailable, and the ones at the schools i can find are not worth a darn. I am not strong in math, and I would like to find a teacher that is willing to help, not point the finger in another direction. I know calc is hard no matter who you take it with, but I need a teacher that realizes that we are not all going to be math majors and has a somewhat lowerer “bar”. Aside from the sites mentioned, are there other places that i can find professors that would better suite my learning needs? Websites, etc? I am in the Hampton Roads, VA area.

  1. I would go to a website called SyllabusCentral.com. They have a bunch of syllabi for different professors and students also leave very good reviews on professors that they have taken. I would go on the website and download a bunch of syllabi for different professors that teach calculus and then review them and try to find professors that drop the lowest quiz grade or professors that give a bunch of small quizzes that are easier to manage.
If you don’t see a syllabus uploaded for one of your professors you can request a syllabus from a professor through the website and almost always the professor will upload it for you.
